The Sundae Kups are a feral re-telling of one of the craziest and most indestructible musical genres known to man – psychedelic Surf, holding onto the comet-tails of Conny and the Bell-Hops, Dick Dale and the Del-Tones and The Beach Boys, gaining mystic powers from their all-white suits, ice-cream-cone hats, glasses and gimpmasks, and blasting it out in an informed frenzy.
Charla Fantasma go hand in hand with the most shit-kicking riot grrrl bands, shimmering away in the gaps between Bikini Kill and Sleater Kinney with two-part vocals, heartbooming guitar lines and a no fucking about Ramones electricity.
And introducing a different kettle of fish, from the stable of The Fat White Family – Meatraffle, an anti-folk/post-punk brass orchestra whose existence might only be reasonably explained if we discovered they’d hatched from a disco ball in the woods to the poetry of Ken Nordine and Mark E. Smith.
Then at 11.30, following a guest DJ set TBC, Kerouac’s bandanna will land on the lamplight with the touch of a Crystals chorus, creating a perfect hue for the ghosts of swing jazz, jive, rock’n’roll, Motown and Northern Soul to join the sweetest, most fuck off new wave, post-punk, riot grrrl, gypsy swing, klezmer and indiepop for a dancio disco till the milkman comes.
