Odd Box Records: A Slight Return #1
After upping sticks and moving to Cardiff we found that we missed putting on shows in London so throughout 2017 we will be doing a series of intimate Monday night shows
And first up we have this fantastic line-up:
❤ Peaness ❤
Their Odd Box 7″ in the 100 Club Series sold out in 2 days. Peaness are a trio from Chester in England – making beautifully melodic indiepop that is sure to be hit with fans of Standard Fare, Belly and Chorusgirl.
“The most pleasing aspect about the band’s popular ascent has been how organic it’s been”– FULL FEATURE BIDO LITO MAGAZINE
“Winning the hearts of unsuspecting listeners across the length and breadth of the DIY scene, right through to BBC RADIO 1’s Huw Stephens” FULL FEATURE THE SKINNY MAGAZINE
❤ Suggested Friends ❤
Suggested Friends formed in November 2015 out of a mutual love for jangly, noisy pop music. With all members straddling involvement in different bands (Wolf Girl, Chorusgirl, and Cat Apostrophe), they quickly became a fixture of the London DIY and indie pop scenes, playing with everyone from Petrol Girls and Trust Fund to Just Joans and Kid Canaveral. The band are currently recording their debut album and planning their next tour for February 2017. The single ‘Chicken’ will be released as part of the Odd Box Records 100 club series on 7” in a run of just 100.
❤ VAN-illa ❤
Since relocating to Cardiff we’ve come across a vibrant city with a slew of exciting young bands. VAN-illa could well be the best of the bunch. They have, to date, released one ‘demo’ on bandcamp. These Cardiff based scamps are now recording a debut single due to be released on Odd Box Records in 2017. They’ve been described (by those who tend to know these things) as the best ‘new’ band in Cardiff.. With big brash guitars and tunes to match – VAN-illa could well be onto something exciting.
