Substance presents Last of the Barstools + Cameron Douglas + Joe Groke + Locks

Substance presents…………..

Last of the Barstools
Last of the Barstools are a dynamic London based indie/folk group. They write character based songs, rich with harmonies and delicate instrumentation.

Their much acclaimed lyrics are both poignant and cinematic with vocal lines shared and swapped throughout, allowing each story to be told in their own unique way. Their debut E.P ‘Stories from Somewhere’, recorded in Autumn 2013 has already received much praise and attention from in London and beyond.

Like the EP recordings their live arrangements are diverse and imaginative, drawing influences from Cohen and Springsteen to Bright Eyes and The National and all that’s in between.

Cameron Douglas
Singer songwriter based in London.

Joe Groke
Joe Groke has been writing and recording songs for the last five years. He took a bit of a break and joined other bands but is now getting back into the fun of playing solo. Themes that appeal to Groke include death, love, loss, horror and alcohol

Locks
Locks is a musical oddity founded by Locks Geary-Griffin who is currently collecting cogs for a machine. A machine consisting musicians, photographers, artists, fashion designers and more…

The creature is a bit of a vagabond; it is currently in slumber in NE London after traipsing through Bristol, Manchester, Portsmouth & The East Midlands.

‘the waif-like [Locks], who looked like a character from Skins and sang her Belle and Sebastian-influenced songs in a beautiful, ululating warble’
-David Sinclair, The Sunday Times
