Paper Dress Presents an evening of wonderful live music from our unique shop window stage in Hackney Central. On Friday 23 September we welcome…

THE FUTURE SHAPE OF SOUND
https://www.facebook.com/TheFutureShapeOfSound
Crime Gospel / Primitive Blues!

After having played a prime slot at Wilderness’ Juke Joint stage in 2016 The Future Shape Of Sound are back at one of their favourite venues to play their first London show in 2 years with a brand new crime gospel line-up.
Leela Thompson (vocals), Alex McGowan (guitar), Stuart Dace (sax), Barnaby Green (keys), Duncan DeMorgan (bass), Andy Marvell (drums), Chevin Dash (bvs), K. Orr (bvs).

Somewhere in the uncharted backstreets east of East London exists an orphaned dirt road where a forgotten community of hookers, drug dealers, scrapped-motor hobos exists side by side with chariot healers, bewildered residents and sky-pilots of different persuasions attending the adjacent mosques, African and Amish churches. In that road stands a building without a doorbell or a sign. This is producer Alex McGowan’s Space Eko East Recording Studio, which some say is really just another church: The Church of Rock’n’Roll.

Frequented by a loyal congregation from the radically non-violent religion of Music, this recording studio has hosted productions for Jah Wobble, The Tiger Lillies, Son Of Dave, The Urban Voodoo Machine, Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind, Sister Cookie, Big Joe Louis, Tricky, Martina Topley Bird, Stewart Copeland, Josh Homme, Mark Lanegan, DJ Scratchy among many others.

The Future Shape Of Sound draw their influences from artists such as Sister Rosetta Sharpe, Clara Ward Singers, Slim Harpo, Hasil Adkins.
