This time around we have Zakia from NTS at the ones and twos. Originally hailing from west London, now residing south, we managed to get her east this November, for your dance floor, listening pleasure.
Zakia will be taking us on a sonic journey through her, thoroughly researched and well selected stax o’ wax. Cutting her teeth in the world famous Honest Jon’s record shop, now making musical waves weekly through her newly secured Saturday slot on NTS. This seriously talented young lady is going from strength to strength, plucking strings from her multi faceted bow, not only djing but making documentaries on topics, including music, social justice, identity politics, science, and history. Two of which were based on the history of UKG for Boiler Room to the history of the Caribbean Carriacou drum for BBC Radio 6.
Expect to hear an eclectic selection of Jazz, Afro Beat, soul, r&b, disco roots, and anything in between.
