September the Eleventh is a date that now resonates across the world. In September of 2001, Scratchy went off to New York for his 49th birthday. Three days later he woke to the sight of smoke pouring out of one of the towers of The World Trade Centre. Twenty years on, having now just turned 69, it felt an appropriate date and age for Scratchy to gather together a few of his DJ pals to launch ‘Swingin’ 69’, the banner under which Scratchy’s gigs over the next year will fall.

On a date that is filled with so many memories, in a world that has changed dramatically in the past two decades, not least over the past couple of years, today will be more a celebration of the kind of perserverance and friendship that keeps us going and the human spirit that defies intolerance, hatred and bigotry. What better way to do that than with great music and company!

Starting at 1pm on Saturday September 11th, running through to 7pm, joining Scratchy in the Paper Dress Vintage Shack, will be the fabulous trio of Diddy Wah, Eric Baconstrip and Evil Elvis, each armed with a box of their 45s.

London based vinyl slinger Diddy Wah is deep into the wild sounds of early rock’n’roll, primitive surf’n’garage and screamin’ rhythm’n’blues. As well as running the Heavy Sugar and Ultra Twist club nights, he often guest DJs at clubs and festivals in the UK and abroad. He has a regular radio gig on NTS and compiled Slow Grind Fever, Buzzsaw Joint and Rockinitis LPs for Stag-O-Lee Records.

Eric Baconstrip is a lover of wild primitive 50s and 60s vinyl. When he is not scouring record shops and flea markets for 45 gems we can find him banging drums for his band King Salami & The Cumberland 3. Enjoy his set of high octane rock and roll curiosities.

DJ Evil Elvis returns to Paper Dress after the success of his soundtrack and lounge all dayer. This member of dance troupe The Action Men will play out more strange international sounds, street corner soul & ska, garage punk that is not for the faint hearted and hard boiled country, all recorded from the depths of despair. Miss these records at your peril, for they will change your life!
No websites for this mysterious Linkless Wray.

SCRATCHY SOUNDS kicked off his illustrious DJ life in the bars and venues of London, 46 years ago, playing shows with the likes of The Ramones, The Heartbreakers, The Cramps & Dr. Feelgood before spending two years on the road as The Clash Tour DJ. Joining up again with Joe Strummer and his Mescaleros in 2001, he has since toured alongside The Pogues and Gogol Bordello, as well as setting festivals, concerts and clubs alight, from Colombia to Japan to London’s Gypsy Hotel, with his fiery concoctions of The Rock and The Roll of The World and Roots Rockin’ Rhythms and Blues.
