Chega Mais presents an Afro-Brasilian special featuring live sets from Baque Luara and Beringela plus a late night party with DJs Poly-Ritmo & Volta45.
BAQUE LUAR
Trance inducing carnival sounds powered by intense Brazilian percussion. Baque Luar are a London-based collective of female and non-binary vocalists and percussionists, united by their love of Brazilian and afro-Brazilian roots music.
Drawing inspiration from the rich soundscapes and traditions of maracatu, coco, bumba meu boi, congado, and ciranda, as well as sacred rhythms of Brazilian candomblé, Baque Luar combine original multi-vocal compositions and arrangements with powerful percussive grooves.
BERINGELA
Beringela, translating from Portuguese as ‘Aubergine’, play traditional music from all over Brazil. Expect samba, baião, forró, choro, and beyond!
Playing all acoustic instruments, expect rhythms you can’t help but dance to, powerful harmonised vocals and flute melodies to make your heart sing.
After the live music Poly-Ritmo & Volta45 will continue the carnival vibes till the early hours.

This show is part of the ‘Hello Again, Hackney’ series which Hackney are running to encourage local residents to return to the borough’s grassroots music venues after a very difficult period.
