Working across song, sound and analogue film, Irish artist Hilary Woods’ evocative compositions cultivate practices that are in call and response to each other. Her heavily processed sonic excavations embedded in drone, field recordings, vocals, electronics, piano and voice give way to the intimacy and tenderness of a personal and intuitive song writing.
Hilary’s third album Acts Of Light, a majestically moving experimental record rooted in physicality and feeling, was released on Sacred Bones Records in November 2023. Following recent sold out shows in Dublin and Café Oto, Hilary returns to London to play a one-off intimate show at Paper Dress Vintage on the 6th June 2024. She will be playing with full band, comprised of pioneering and visionary drummer Gabriel Ferrandini, whose impulse to free thedrums from their conventional confines creates states of confluence between rhythm, texture and harmony, and Oliver Turvey on violin, whose modulating idiosyncratic lyricism explores the cavernous arid mystery of Woods’compositional sound world.
