Deeper Cuts: Arjuna Oakes, Johanna Burnheart & Miche

Limited tickets available HERE

Deeper Cuts is a new night championing the best jazz and jazz-ish artists working in London right now – cosy shows with trailblazers from our musical community. And we’re delighted to kick it all off at Paper Dress Vintage.

ARJUNA OAKES

A vocalist, piano player and producer from New Zealand who – luckily for us – has recently relocated to London! Brilliant songwriting, ridiculous playing – Arjuna has opened for Jordan Rakei, been played extensively on BBC 6 Music, championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson and Bandcamp Weekly, and is signed to respected London label Albert’s Favourites.

JOHANNA BURNHEART

A violinist, singer and composer from Germany. The Berlin club scene has left an indelible mark on her music, which ‘exists at the point where modal jazz and techno meet’ – you can’t beat that for a tagline. A key part of the London jazz scene over the past decade, her most recent record, the beautiful ‘Bär’, came out at the end of last year. She’ll be performing her sublime solo set.

MICHE

One of the most versatile and soulful DJs East London has to offer. He’s put out two volumes of his With Love compilation series for esteemed label Mr. Bongo, and is fresh from curating a takeover at We Out Here festival.

KARL BOS

The curator of Deeper Cuts and host of a long-running show of the same name on Soho Radio. He’s spun records from Sête to Delhi, has a deep knowledge of jazz, funk, fusion and Brazilian sounds – and is immersed in new music as a jazz radio producer for the BBC.
