Deeper Cuts is a new night championing the best jazz-ish artists working in the UK
right now! Cosy shows with trailblazers from our musical community.
Awen Ensemble
We’re very lucky to have the brilliant folk-jazz seven piece down from Leeds for the evening! They’ve had a big year – with new EP Dùthchas, swiftly following their acclaimed debut album Cadair Idris. They’ve had wide support across BBC Radio, played We Out Here, Shambala and Green Man festivals, and now bring their Celtic-tinged groove to Paper Dress.
Hiro Ama
A London-based musician whose beautiful album, Music for Peace and Harmony, is built around an obscure Japanese synth from the 80s called a Waraku. Pairing Hiro (who also drums in Teleman) with a live flute player, makes for irresistible textures which are sure to linger in the mind well after the show.
Makeda (DJ)
Netil Radio and The BoAt Pod resident Makeda, who’s spun everywhere from The
Jazz Café to Coop Audio, will be bringing an expansive selection of joy-centering sounds to guide you through the evening. Deeper Cuts is curated by Karl Bos, who is a DJ and the host of a long-running show of the same name on Soho Radio. He is immersed in new music as a jazz radio producer for the BBC.
Karl Bos is supported by the Early Career Promoter Fund which is managed by PRS Foundation and funded by Arts Council England using Supporting Grassroots Music funding from DCMS.
