‘The Circle’ is a unique night of musical collaboration, hosted by the contemporary-folk band Evolution of Fishermen. As the house band, they will be joined by special guest artists, accompanying and collaborating with them throughout the night. Expect a night of live music that blends old and new folk influences and features some of London’s most exciting musicians.

EVOLUTION OF FISHERMEN

Evolution of Fishermen are a six-piece folk band formed in 2021, brought together by a shared love of storytelling, unique harmonies, and original folk songs. Since their formation, the band has quickly established themselves as a prominent presence in the contemporary folk scene.

They’ve worked with notable promoters such as Sofar Sounds, performed at renowned venues including Green Note, O2 Islington, The Old Blue Last, and The Crescent (York). Their festival appearances include Wilderness, Deershed, and Medicine Festival with 2025 dates secured for Gate to Southwell and LOOPFEST.

The band’s debut EP, Days Like These, has received multiple features on BBC Introducing and was launched with a sell-out gig at St. Bartholomew the Great’s church in London in May 2024.

A strong commitment to collaboration and passion for blending traditional and contemporary music has led them to create ‘The Circle’, the band are honoured to be joined by such incredible special guests for the event’s first iteration.

ALICE BOYD & JACOB NORRIS

Alice Boyd and Jacob Norris, based in SE London, team up to present songs from their individual projects alongside new collaborative material. Together, they have performed at venues across the UK, including the Barbican Conservatory, Kings Place, and Bristol Beacon.

Alice Boyd is a musician and sound artist whose work blends folk-inspired harmonies with ambient textures and field recordings. Her music has been featured on BBC Radio 3, 4, and 6. Alice is also known for creating site-specific audio installations, radio documentaries, and podcasts, including for BBC Radio 4, Kew’s Wakehurst and Wellcome Collection.

Jacob Norris is a musician and songwriter, known for his solo work and as part of the band Lectures. His music is defined by its intricate arrangements and a distinctive blend of electronic and acoustic elements.

Alice and Jacob are thrilled to be joined by Evolution of Fishermen on two tracks, adding an exciting layer to their collaborative sound.

MAIMUMA MEMON

Maimuna Memon is a distinctive creative force. Her skills as a writer, performer and multi-instrumentalist have produced accomplished, thought-provoking and emotionally vulnerable songs which excel in two environments: in their own right as a recording artist, but also within the wider narrative of theatrical productions. Those two worlds are united in her concept album show ‘Manic Street Creature’ and with the release of her debut EP ‘More Than I Bargained For.

Maimuna is Lancashire born and has Pakistani and Irish heritage which is important to the work she creates. She Co-produced her debut EP, collaborating with Charlie Andrew, Neil Comber and Jonathan Quarmby.
