CULT FIGURES
Originally birthed in the Midlands but now London based, post-punks Cult Figures released 2 classic singles on the Swell Maps Rather Records label in ’79 and ’80. Then they split up.
Now they’re back with brand new music – the critically acclaimed Deritend (2021) & 2022’s Between Us & Heaven gained national radio play & are suffused with the band’s knack of combining intelligent punk-pop, harmonies to die for & an unwavering desire to experiment both musically and lyrically.
The current band features original guitarist Jon Hodgson, bassist Lee McFadden and drummer Stuart Hilton joined by new members Steve May (guitar) & Fraser Gillespie (lead vocals) who took over from co-founding singer Gary Jones, who tragically lost his life in 2022
MICKO & THE MELLOTRONICS
Formed in 2017 with the intention of turning Micko Westmoreland’s songwriting skills into a dynamic live prospect, and released their debut album 1/2 Dove 1/2 Pigeon in 2020. The new incarnation of The Mellotronics sees Micko’s rabble-rousing vocals and spiky, agitational guitar work augmented perfectly by the crack squad of drummer Jan Noble and Budge Magraw on bass (both previously from The Cesarians). Paul Cuddeford (Boomtown Rats) moonlights when in town.
