YASAK HELVA
Yasak Helva are an Anatolian electric folk trio blending fuzz-drenched psych-rock with gritty grunge, groovy funk, and jazz. Powered by electrified traditional instruments such as cümbüş, bağlama, fretless guitar, and percussion, their sound roams freely from Anatolia to the Middle East, Siberia, the Balkans, and the West.
Raw and untamed, Yasak Helva were featured on the Saz Power compilation LP and are widely regarded as one of the most authentic contemporary acts to emerge from Anatolia standing apart from the more media-friendly Turkish psych revival scene.
LA NOUVELLE MUSIQUE
This London-based psych-folk duo weave folk-tinged, cinematic psychedelia with a vocal presence somewhere between Vashti Bunyan and Nico. Their songs unfold like dreamlike landscape with orchestration that often hints at a widescreen.
Singer and bass player Joanna Beck is also a composer and performance artist, working across electroacoustic music and sonic art, with scores for theatre and film adding further depth to the duo’s immersive world.
