An experimental format starting with an academic micro-lecture and discussion followed by electronic music and post-rock ensemble performances.
Presentation / discussion: “Supra-modernity: “The Tone of Our Times?”
Facilitated by Dr. j Milo Taylor, academic researching a book exploring “malevolent audio”.
This first public presentation of some initial ideas is based upon anthropologist Marc Augé’s 1990’s notion of “non-place”; the proliferation of generic spaces of transience (shopping centres, airports, housing estates etc). How do the transformations of time, space and hyper-individuated identity associated with non-places resonant in 2026?
Might our current moment be characterised by an update of Augé’s “super-modernity” to a “supra-modernity?
kWeRk Hackney sound artist kWeRk explores rhythm, texture & emotion via the language of abstract electronic sonics. Active since the 90s kWeRk plays with the mangling & modulation of synthesized sounds & field recordings; warping & sculpting audio, finding feeling in fragments.
