Des Was a Bowie Fan is an indiepop, new wave, rock’n’roll, post-punk, girl groups, 60s garage, swing jazz night in London. We also run a fishing, poetry and indiepop fanzine called Fishing Rod Reel
In a creation story to rival that of the Yahwist, the night was born at Desmond Tutu’s nightclub atop of King’s College on the Strand. Here former Archbishop Des became a Bowie Fan imprinted with the lightning bolt of the indie gods. The club thus has an appetite for the sartorially extraordinary and provocative as well as for the musically heartbooming. We will be monthly at Paper Dress Vintage in Shoreditch from September 27th, with live music reflective of the Pop ethos of the night.
