Basement Tapes are back for the latest instalment of their monthly residency with grooves to make you move!
This month features live performances from one of London’s finest afrobeat bands Kokoroko, psychedelic jazz deviants Lunch Money and bass virtuoso Cameron Dawson’s solo project and coincides with Independent Venue Week
Plus we’ll be running LATE with special guests DJs:
Debora Ipekel (Worldwide FM/Sounds of the Universe)
Born Cheating (Tiff’s Joints)
As usual Basement Tapes (Sam Ra & Howlin’ Walsh) and Flying Mojito Bros DJs (Jack Sellen and Ben Chetwood) will be spinning some fine FUNK, SOUL, AFROBEAT, DISCO and much more until 3am.
Live sets from:
Kokoroko Afrobeat Collective
KOKOROKO are a young Afrobeat Collective taking influence from the greats of the afrobeat world. They specialise in a soul shaking, horn fueled sound with West African roots and Inner London hues
Check out this stunning live video of them performing for Sofar Sounds at TRC: https://www.youtube.com/
Lunch Money
A Lunch Money live show is a sensory experience, typically featuring psychedelic jazz, off-kilter hooks and rhythms, floating synths, horns and head knodding syncopated drum beats. Prepare to be amazed.
Lunch are fresh off the back of releasing their debut single via None More Records. Check it out here: https://
Cameron Dawson
A bassist with an inciredble pedigree, Cam plays with some of our favourite bands including Vels Trio, Bison Bonasus and Mama’s Gun. We can’t wait to hear what his solo project has to offer.
