Join us on Thursday 21 April for the London date of Alex Rex’s UK tour with support from Green Seagull + DJ Melanie Xulu (MOOF Magazine)
ALEX REX
Alex Rex is the “ghost rock” project of Alex Neilson- drummer to some of the most innovative musicians of our time including Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Shirley Collins, Jandek and Current 93. Alex has synthesised the twisted self-invention and charismatic death-drive of these artists into his solo vehicle- abandoning the folk rock pomp of his previous band Trembling Bells for something darker and wilder.
GREEN SEAGULL
London’s psych-janglers Green Seagull have built something of a cult following over the past few years, with two well-received LPs for the Mega Dodo label winning them plaudits from press and public alike. Now augmented by Wolf People’s Dan Davies on guitar, they are set to release a new 7″ single on French imprint Disques Rogue ahead of their eagerly-awaited third LP due later this year.
DJ MELANIE XULU (MOOF MAGAZINE)
Melanie Xulu is a DJ and the founder/editor of psychedelic music & arts magazine MOOF Magazine. Inspired by the acid-drenched countercultural publications of the 60s/70s such as Oz and Gandalf’s Garden, MOOF’s goal is to keep the underground press alive and weird. Her work has been featured in Dazed & Confused, BBC Radio 6 Music, Record Collector, and more. Expect anything and everything from psychedelic folk to experimental sunshine pop.
