Mezanmi (pronounced ‘mes amis’) is the new mantle of Newcastle-born, London-based artist and composer Fran O’Hanlon, he’ll be celebrating the release of his debut album, “Always Upwards” on the night. Plus special guests to be announced.
MEZANMI
Having previously released music under the name AJIMAL, on “Always Upwards”, O’Hanlon enters a new era, with his ambient folk and contemporary classical sound taking on an increasingly electronic and experimental edge.
His distinctive vocals are now elevated by cinematic string arrangements, string rhythms, and ethereal synths. A continuation of his collaboration with double-Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Guy Massey, the album features a number of collaborations with artists and musicians from across the worlds of electronic, folk, and contemporary classical music.
O’Hanlon has toured and performed extensively across the UK and Europe, including live dates supporting Bernard Butler & Jessie Buckley, Eydís Evensen, Lucy Rose, The 1975, Katy Kirby, Van Morrison, Loney Dear, Sandrayaa, and Hannah Georgas. Alongside the release of his debut LP, he continues to write music for film and television and recently composed the original score for the short film “We/US”, from acclaimed writer-directors AJ Vaage and Oliver Warren, which premiered at the HollyShorts Film Festival in California this year.
