Paper Dress Presents and evening of wonderful live music from our unique shop window stage in Hackney Central. On Friday 21 January we welcome
The Fuzillis…. one word instr-o-mentals, rowdy saxes, raunchy guitars, and a wallet full of atomic age twist and grind a go-go tunes.
A five man tag team featuring the Gretsch fueled twang and grind of Dan Martin Jr, the rootin’ tootin tenor sax totin’ twosome of Missy K and “Tmag” Maguire, the thunderous jungle rhythms of W J Oake III and the boss of the bass, Mr Frankie Fuzilli.
Where Link Wray and Las Vegas Grind collide with Grady Gaines’ Upsetters and The Fabulous Wailers by way of Nick Curran and Spike Jones
The Fuzillis… atomic age raunch’n’roll with a twist… you’ll dance till your toes bleed…
JOEY HERZFELD & HIS SO CALLED FRIENDS
After 5 years writhing and screaming in cabaret/rock band Hooverville Joey strapped on an accordion to deliver his nasty little songs with a more acoustic lineup. Expect dark and funny tales of hangings, heartbreak, stalkers and lechers, interspersed with foot-stomping instrumentals.
It’s played by a circus of wheezing accordion, twanging banjo, gypsy fiddle, wailing clarinet, double bass and drums, plus an occasional smattering surf guitar, toy piano, spooky organ, musical saw, glockenspiel, mandolin, ukulele, scronking sax, scrap metal and cutlery.
THE BEATLESS..
“LIVE FROM HAMBURG THE FABULOUS BEATLESS” play rock n roll classics in the rough and raw style of Hamburg-era Beatles. By which I mean: they sound like they’ve been up for three days straight fuelled by nothing but cheap speed and youthful idealism. They are, of course, comprised of rock nobodies John Lemon, Paul Muckartney, George Hairyson and Pete Worst. They’re basically just a covers band, and not even a particularly good one but, and here’s the thing: they actually believe this shit, and for that reason alone, you’d be fucking crazy to miss them in concert” – Lester Bangs, From Beyond, Jan 2015.
