Wed 18 May 19:45pm
Joel Sarakula (AUS/UK) returns to Paper Dress Vintage on May 18 bringing his 60s and 70s tinged soulful and psychedelic pop. Expect perfectly crafted soulful and funk classics reminiscent of an early 70s spy movie soundtrack presented in a positive and life affirming show.
‘The new album The Imposter is dreamy and Bowie-esque… It’s a really engaging and adventurous record, I would highly recommend it’ – Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music (2015)
This night will also feature special guests The Jooles: Berlin vintage pop specialists who appear as perfectly English 60s mods. Joel and The Jooles have recently toured Germany together and they are keen to bring their mutual admiration for each other’s music to this Wednesday night Hackney love-in.
Milly Upton with band is a beautiful re-imagining of a 70s west coast songstress, somewhere between Rickie Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell.
With a darkly soulful and sultry voice, Jess Roberts opens the night singing sad and soulful songs of love lost and won.
This will be a special night celebrating the various artist’s love of 70s soul. Expect warmth from the stage and deep collaboration.
