VPT Presents: Buffalo Postcard / Butterflies on Pins / Plainbow

Weds 18 September, a triple header of live music as The Vapour Trail arrives at Paper Dress for the first time!

Limited advance tickets available here!

Headlining the first Vapour Trail to take place at Paper Dress Vintage are noisepop extraordinaires Buffalo Postcard. Rising from the ashes of the C86-influenced shoegazers The Tamborines, they are a three piece featuring Henrique Laurindo (guitar & vox), Chokis Costa (bass) and Jules Favaro (drums) and they marry vital and swoomsome melodies with frenetic jangle and warm noise. Henrique’s vocals are often gorgeous and the hooks never leave you, at times bringing to mind early Teenage Fanclub, Sugar and Dinosaur Jr, with an infinitely warmer soul. With shows with Echo Ladies and most recently at Rough Trade under their belts, it is recommended you see them as soon as you can.

“Ominous and obsessive post-punk rhythms underlie swollen swells of shoegaze-tinged guitar reverberations and hypnotic psychedelic synth mists, permeated of relentless high tension and andrenaline rush. The emotionally detached, depressed, vocals scream in anger and disgust at the leeches in society. Dark, disturbing and yet mesmerizingly beautiful” – WL/WH

“Butterflies On Pins are an exciting prospect. They blend the industrial sounds of Kraftwerk and the desperation and despair of shoegaze” – Turtle Tempo

Describing themselves as ethereal noise and very much living up to the promise are Plainbow, with their very first London show. Featuring Vapour Trail legend Seb Pidgeon along with Ben Pidgeon and Oliver Samuel on bass and drums respectively, their sound is a sky-kissing kaleidoscope of shimmering chords, elegiac chimes and dizzy distortion. Already gaining interest thanks to the widescreen sonics of ‘Distemper’, their first official single is being readied for label release within the not-too-distant future. If the melancholic melodic beauty of the likes of Robin Guthrie, Neil Halstead and Robert Smith is in any way your bag then it is more than likely you will find all this and more in the timeless sound of Plainbow.
