Nina Miranda Presents: CONCRETE SAMBA!

Nina Miranda and Concrete Samba is an exciting and original combination of Brazilian and English talents and sensibilities..

Nina has assembled a super-talented band for her new solo project, which reflects her Anglo-Brazilian identity and upbringing, which is divided between London and Rio de Janeiro.

The music combines polyrhythmic Brazilian percussion rhythms from Anselmo Netto, from Bahia, Brazil, with funky, odd-metre grooves from bassist Charlie Jackson and dazzling prog-rock riffs from guitarist Richie Barrett. It’s inspired as much by Pentangle and the Kinks as by Sergio Mendes and Gal Costa. It combines Brazilian melodic sophistication with an outsiderish English pop sensibility.

Nina has taken what she likes best from her two musical worlds to create one that’s new, unique and all her own – a world she calls Concrete Samba.

Nina’s music has taken her to some of the finest musical stages in the world including Glastonbury, Womad, The Barbican & Queen Elizabeth Hall in the UK, La Cochella L.A, Blue Note Tokyo and Rock in Rio.

“ Delicious album – really fresh and fun” Gilles Peterson. Radio1
