1940’s

Britain is at war and everything is affected! Fabrics were in limited supply so women had to be smart, creating fabulous practical, tailored clothing in as little fabric as possible.

Woman had to work – fabulous high waisted sailor pants and blouses were a stylish yet practical option.

Until ’45 colours were austere and dark, lines were clean and flatteringly fitted.

Contrastingly the Dior New Look of the late 40’s boasted full skirts and dresses using an abundance of fabric, demonstrating wealth and femininity, and the end of a rationed war!

This fabulously rich yet simple skirt suit worn by Chloe shows the neat fit of the time, set off with the essential stylish hat and bag.
